| Kostas Sloukas scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as hosts Greece pulled away from Israel for an 89-67 victory to remain undefeated at the U18 European Championship for Men.
Sloukas knocked down back-to-back three-pointers as well as two free throws during Greece's decisive 11-0 surge to take control of the game late after trailing Israel late in the third quarter.
Nikos Pappas tallied 16 points for George Vlassopoulos's team, which improved to 2-0 in Group A. Vlantimir Giankovits added 15 points and Zisis Sakrikopoulos had 13 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks for the host nation.
Israel dropped to 1-1 in the group despite 19 points by Nadav Heyman while Yotam Shiran had 13 points and Ben Reis added 11.
Greece converted three three-point plays in opening a 14-2 lead en route to a 20-4 advantage in the first six minutes. Israel answered with an 8-0 run and trailed 21-14 after one period. The second quarter saw Greece manage the game well and lead 41-32 at the break.
Heyman stepped up his game in the third quarter and hit a series of baskets including a three-pointer to put Israel ahead 54-51 with three minutes left in the third.
Sloukas, who also had six assists, hit four foul shots and Sakrikopoulos made two baskets and blocked a shot as Greece used a 10-2 run to lead 61-56 after three periods. Dan Franko's Israelis refused to go away and Reis's back-to-back baskets cut the deficit to 70-64 with five minutes to play.
But Sloukas took over in leading the 11-0 spurt to decide the game.
